Till 7.45 pm, the ruling alliance had bagged out 141 of the total 243 seats. The Opposition Mahagathbandhan was reduced to 35 seats.

The Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the largest party in terms of seat share, winning 72 constituencies and leading in 17. This is one of the best performances of the BJP in the state.

Incumbent Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) had won 53 seats and was leading in 32. It is the second-largest party in terms of constituencies won and has nearly doubled its tally of 43 seats from the 2020 polls.

The main Opposition party, the Rashtriya Janata Dal, was reduced to 25 seats this time, a sharp decline from the 75 constituencies it had won in 2020. The Congress’ tally dropped to six.
