DETROIT, MI — A 26-year-old man was sentenced to nearly a decade in federal prison for sending money to a terrorist organization.

Jibreel Pratt, of Detroit, pleaded guilty to two counts of attempting to conceal donations of cryptocurrency he had planned to make to the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham, also known as ISIS, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office with the Eastern District of Michigan.

Pratt had contacted someone he believed to be associated with ISIS, as well as recorded videos of himself pledging allegiance to the organization’s leader, according to court records. He also had created a scheme to use drones and remote-control cars in conjunction with explosives and told the contact he wanted to be in a leadership role in the terrorist organization.
