Delaware is home to a growing landscape of filmmakers, production companies and film festivals. The state’s central East Coast location, tax benefits, varied landscape and ease of connecting with other creatives have made it an appealing location for the film industry.

The first major feature film shot entirely in Delaware was Dead Poets Society (1989). One of the major filming locations was St. Andrews School in Middletown, Delaware — which beat out more than 100 other schools across the country that had been considered — and another was Middletown’s historic Everett Theatre. The historic colonial town of New Castle received some screentime as well.
