Last July, the Virginia Gazette published an article on five talented young runners from the Williamsburg area, three of whom just finished their sophomore cross country seasons: Jonathan Grimm at Jamestown, Amelia Valenti at Grafton, and Remington Freeman at Walsingham Academy.

The fourth, 12-year-old Isabella Strumke of Toano, a home-schooled sixth-grader, has been on the youth cross country circuit this season and has run in two Colonial Road Runners Grand Prix races (Democracy Dash 10K and Carter’s Grove 10K) and one CRR team race (Elizabeth River Run 10K), after spending seven weeks with her family traveling throughout Argentina during the summer.
