ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Asheville Fire Department said it is investigating after a woman was stabbed on Thursday.

Officials said they were called to an apartment complex on Bear Creek Lane around 2:57 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a woman who had multiple stab wounds to her upper body, receiving aid from a neighbor. She was taken to Mission Hospital by EMS.

According to police, a person of interest has been identified and the investigation is active and ongoing.
