NOVI - Ponying up for pizza with counterfeit money doesn't pay.
An Inkster man was charged with two felonies after using counterfeit $100 bills to pay for pizza in Milford and Highland Township.
Javon Lavell Smith, 21, was arraigned Nov. 11 on two counts of uttering and publishing counterfeit bills in 52-1 District Court.
He was arrested at his Inkster home earlier in the week by members of the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Apprehension Team.
Milford police and detectives from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Highland Township substation say Smith used fake $100 bills to pay unsuspecting Milford and Highland merchants for pizza on Oct. 7 and received change. He never returned to pick up the pizzas.
Smith has been released from custody on a personal bond and will next app
