A bus which went up in flames in West Lothian on Friday afternoon was a school bus taking children home, it has been confirmed.

Emergency services raced to Blackness Road just outside Linlithgow, near its junction with Springfield Road, at 12.40pm on November 14. Two fire appliances were sent to the scene, while police closed the road.

The E&M Horsburgh bus was seen being recovered from the scene later in the afternoon. Images show the double-decker vehicle with its back badly burned by the flames and windows gone.

Its lower deck also appears to be damaged, and part of the engine visible. West Lothian Council has since confirmed it was transporting pupils home from Linlithgow Academy.
