Delaware’s only member of Congress, Rep. Sarah McBride, is a graduate of Cab Calloway School of the Arts in Wilmington, a public magnet school co-founded by her mother. Here, McBride discusses how her arts education shaped her and why Delaware is a special place for the arts.

What sort of arts education were you able to pursue at Cab Calloway?

I went to Cab for both middle and high school, so I was there from sixth grade on. In middle school, I was a drama major and vocal minor, though I didn’t have much talent for the vocal space. In high school, I was in communications arts, with a specific focus on cinema studies. I actually got interested in the arts primarily through films. I loved making movies with my friends growing up.
