RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- North Carolina State University's Board of Trustees has approved a proposed 3% tuition increase Friday for all new students.

Tuition for in-state undergraduates will rise by $196 annually, and for out-of-state students, it will increase by $975 per year. School leaders told ABC11 News that these changes will keep the university on pace with inflation.

If approved by UNC Board of Governors, the changes would impact students coming in Fall 2026. The rate would not apply to current students.

This comes a day after UNC-Chapel Hill's board approved a tuition increase for incoming in-state undergraduates for the first time in nearly a decade.
