Anas Sarwar has branded the SNP Government "economically illiterate" in a row over income tax rises .
The Scottish Labour leader hit out after the Nationalists claimed today the UK Government's Budget process was in "complete chaos".
It comes after Rachel Reeves decided against hiking the basic rate of income tax when she delivers the Budget later this month.
The Labour minister had previously suggested she was prepared to become the first Chancellor in 50 years to rip-up a manifesto commitment not to increase the basic rate.
Reeves is now considering whether to freeze or lower income tax thresholds, the salary levels at which the various rates kick in. Other taxes could also be raised.
