ASHEVILLE, N.C. —

A person of interest has been identified after a woman was stabbed at an Asheville apartment.

Asheville police said the stabbing happened Thursday afternoon at a complex on Bear Creek Lane.

When officers arrived, they found the woman with multiple lacerations to her upper body.

They said a neighbor was helping the woman until EMS arrived.

The victim was taken to Mission Hospital for treatment.

A person of interest has been identified, and the investigation is active and ongoing.
