Season 2 of “Landman” premieres on Sunday, Nov. 16, but one major character isn’t returning.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for season 1 of “Landman.”

M-Tex Oil owner and CEO Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) underwent an unsuccesful heart transplant during the season 1 finale. While his death wasn’t expressly stated, Monty was shown looking lifeless in a hospital bed as his wife, Cami Miller (Demi Moore), and daughters sat crying beside him.

Hamm later confirmed that he will not reprise his role as Monty in season 2 .

“You don’t come back from that. [Monty’s] no longer with us,” the actor told USA Today in January,

Hamm noted that he agreed to just one season of “Landman” from the jump.
