ADAMS COUNTY, Colo — Officer body camera footage captures the moment an Adams County deputy decided to arrest a man for recording him and complaining about his speeding. The footage also captures a supervisor apologizing for the arrest.

Barry Zatkalik never filed an official lawsuit with Adams County, but his attorney Maddie Shaefer sent a legal letter to Adams County that outlined the wrongful arrest. Shaefer said her client received an $80,000 settlement payout this month.

The incident happened in February 2024, just as Deputy Walter Berlinski was wrapping up a traffic stop on southbound Highway 85 near 104th Avenue.

Barry Zatkalik, who was not part of the traffic stop, pulled over near the traffic stop to gather video of Berlinski.
