Lewis Capaldi ’s new four-song EP is out today, and with it the arrival of a new single, “The Day That I Die.”

The track is vintage Capaldi, a deeply affecting, piano-led ballad that finds the Scottish singer-songwriter ruminating on mortality in stark, but evocative terms. On the track’s characteristically booming bridge, Capaldi belts, “Just as the sun will rise/And the sun will set/I will love you just the same from somewhere different/Until you close your eyes/And we meet again/Don’t you, don’t cry.”
