Today we’re taking a trip back in time as we visit one of the truly significant historical destinations in the Upstate of South Carolina. From Pre-History to the Native Cherokee to the earliest pioneers, this unique site has attracted humankind for millenia.
This is Hagood Mill. Located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this place got its start as a mill in 1793. And the mill itself and the surrounding property is an amazing portal into our past, ready for exploration.
The mill that still stands today was built around 1845. The wooden water wheel is 20 feet in diameter, 4 feet wide, and produces 22 horsepower that can still grind grain to this day.
