DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa Capitol Bureau) - People with disabilities, their families, and advocates gathered at the Harkin Center to discuss how federal budget cuts could impact disabled people’s access to care, health services, and employment.
President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act could cut nearly a trillion dollars from Medicaid over the next decade. Panelists said the cuts could have a wide impact on disabled people’s lives.
“It’s going to impact everyone,” said former Iowa state Medicaid director Liz Matney. “The ripples are going to turn into waves that affect every economy at some point.”
