OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) - Ocala code enforcement officials are taking action against the owner of a laundromat that suddenly exploded in 2024 after the repair project stalled.
On Monday, code enforcement officials will attend a special magistrate hearing regarding a notice of violation against Mike Pardee, the owner of Hillside Plaza Laundromat.
On July 30, 2024, the laundromat exploded , injuring multiple people, destroying the building, and damaging neighboring businesses.
A report from the city details the efforts made to work with Pardee to repair the building and remove hazards.
The Ocala Police Department reported an increase in break-ins at the nearby liquor store due to the condition of the structure.
