WARRENSBURG, Mo. —
“He lived in the Bible. He said God delivered him from the scars of war.”
Best friends of 39-year-old Tony Barron are remembering a man they call a hero.
“He just wanted to spread the word of God and was a kind soul,” says friend Doug Bradler.
An Iraq War veteran, Barron died Wednesday after trying to help a woman who was being assaulted in Missouri. Her assailant shot and killed him.
The assailant later shot himself.
On Thursday, Warrensburg police identified the suspect as Glyzua Ingram.
Barron served with the 101st Airborne Division, the “Screaming Eagles,” and endured horrors of war in combat in the Middle East.
Friends say he battled post-traumatic stress disorder and drug addiction, which put a strain on his relationship with his two children.
