NEW YORK — The U.S. stock market continues to shake on Friday, a day after one of its worst drops since its springtime selloff, as Nvidia, bitcoin, gold and other high flyers on Wall Street swing.

After starting the day with a sharp loss of 1.3 percent, the S&P 500 quickly erased all of it and was holding relatively steady by 10:45 a.m. Eastern time, while the Nasdaq composite flipped to a gain of 0.1 percent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 362 points, or 0.8 percent, after paring an earlier loss of nearly 600 points.
