LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Lincoln Police Department announced Friday that no charges will be filed against the driver in a deadly Nov. 7 pedestrian crash.

According to the investigation, a 19-year-old man was heading north on South 84th Street near South Cherrywood Drive when he struck 42-year-old Katherine Gogela of Lincoln in the crosswalk.

Gogela was taken to a local hospital, where she died.

Investigators said the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated, and there’s no indication of speeding or drug use.

Dr. Kate Gogela was a pediatrician and breastfeeding medicine specialist who had been with Lincoln Pediatric Group since 2017.
