A semi-truck driver is thanking his lucky stars after he managed to escape his vehicle shortly before a train collided with it in Georgia.

The crash occurred at Turner Hill Road and Covington Highway in DeKalb County shortly after 5 a.m. local time on Friday, Nov. 14, according to ABC affiliate WSB and The Atlanta Constitution-Journal .

A semi-truck that was on the tracks at the time of the collision was split in two, FOX affiliate WAGA reported.
