A judge granted LaMar D. Cook bail weeks after the former aide to Governor Maura Healey was arrested on cocaine trafficking and gun charges.

Superior Court Judge William J. Ritter set bail at $85,000 in a ruling filed Wednesday.

Cook was initially ordered held without bail after a different judge ruled he was a danger to the community. Cook later petitioned to have the District Court decision reviewed in Hampden Superior Court, which resulted in a bail hearing last week.

Ritter’s subsequent ruling could allow Cook to be released from jail pending trial.

“His family’s looking forward to him coming home,” Cook’s attorney Kedar K. Ismail said.
