HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Salt trucks and snowplows in the city of Huntington went on a dry run Friday morning.

Crews prepared for the winter months ahead by getting a feel for the routes in the city and making sure the trucks are ready to go.

We saw snowfall at the beginning of the week, and crews were out salting the city bridges.

Public works director Mark Bates said this annual dry run allows crews to learn the roads they will tend to when the weather gets more severe.

“It gives our drivers the opportunity to learn the routes for our new drivers and just to refamiliarize with the routes,” Bates said. “Also, to look for any new obstructions or changes in traffic patterns that may have changed this year.”
