This is the state of a main shopping road in Birmingham following a day of heavy rain.

Stratford Road, in Sparkhill, resembles a river as Storm Claudia continues to batter the country with torrential downpours.

Mohammed Rafi, who owns UK Furniture, said cars were driving through the muddy waters which were lapping his front door.

Mr Rafi said he had only had one customer since 1pm and that was only to shelter from the relentless downpours.

He said: "Every time it rains, it floods and it's been flooded all day.
