A decade ago, developers promised Hill District residents a cut of money generated from rebuilding a huge swath of their neighborhood.
But for years, plans stalled and the money remained out of reach.
That changed this week.
The Urban Redevelopment Authority has opened applications for $1.3 million of property tax revenue from Lower Hill District developments. The money is earmarked for investment in the surrounding neighborhood.
Applicants have until April 30, 2026 — or until all funds are awarded — to apply for three types of grants:
• More than $900,000 is available for new construction and rehabilitation of commercial, mixed-use and multi-family housing projects in the Hill.
• $240,000 is available for organizations that serve youth in the Hill through arts, athletics and educat
