Voters in District A will return to the polls on Saturday to decide on a runoff between two candidates who both built their city government careers under outgoing Councilman Joe Giarrusso.

Holly Friedman and Aimee McCarron advanced to the Nov. 15 runoff after neither secured a majority in last month’s primary. Friedman led the field with 39% of the vote, while McCarron followed with 32%.

Friedman, Giarrusso’s former constituent services director, has centered her campaign on expanding government transparency and improving city performance. She has pledged to expand public-facing dashboards that track street repairs, permits and capital projects, and to use open data to monitor departmental results.
