A Chinese political commentator called Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi an “evil witch" and a Chinese diplomat in Japan talked about cutting off the “dirty neck" interfering in China’s internal issues two weeks after she said a Chinese attack on Taiwan could force a military response from Tokyo.

China and Japan have both summoned each other’s ambassadors and Beijing has demanded that the Japanese PM retract her “egregious" remarks which were a rare, explicit statement which could be a first for a sitting Japanese PM.

“The dirty neck that sticks itself in must be cut off," Xue Jian, the Chinese consul general in the Japanese city of Osaka, said in a post on X that has since been deleted.
