INDIANAPOLIS —
A chimpanzee got out of its enclosure at the Indianapolis Zoo, forcing the zoo to be placed on lockdown.

The zoo followed its emergency protocol, placing the zoo on lockdown with guests escorted to "secure locations."
The chimpanzee was sedated and returned to her exhibit.
Zoo guests were safe at all times and there were no injuries to guests or zoo staff, officials said.
