Storm Claudia is causing disruption at Manchester Piccadilly after a tree blocked a railway line.

Services between the station and some lines heading towards Bredbury have been affected after a tree blocked the line as the storm continues to cause chaos across the region.

Northern Trains said staff are aware of the issue and are working at the scene to resolve it.

In an update the rail operator said: "Due to a tree blocking the railway between Manchester Piccadilly and Bredbury some lines are blocked.

"Train services running to and from these stations will be cancelled, delayed or diverted.
