WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Wednesday that key economic data about inflation and job numbers may never be released because of the government shutdown.
“The Democrats shutdown made it extraordinarily difficult for economists, investors and policymakers at the Federal Reserve to receive critical government data,” she said during a White House press briefing.
Typically, economists and the Federal Reserve look to the data to make forecasts and decisions about monetary policy.
Leavitt went after congressional Democrats during her remarks, claiming that they caused the government shutdown which led to the lack of data.
