POLICE will allege a Tamworth man banned from possessing guns has been found with a shortened shotgun.

The Leader can reveal Kane John Smith-Croft is in custody after being charged with a string of offences following his arrest in South Tamworth.

The charges stem from an investigation by Oxley police into incidents involving a firearm, ammunition and cannabis in South Tamworth on various dates in October and November.

The 28-year-old appeared in Tamworth Local Court this week on several guns and drug charges, but was not required to enter pleas.
