HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The mayor of Huntington has issued a statement following the announcement of the closure of the city's Amazon Customer Service Center.

While the center's physical location will be closed by May 2026, those currently employed at the center will be transitioned into virtual work, maintaining their positions, wages and benefits, according to media reports.

“Our economy and the business world are changing, and companies are adapting in their own way — leaning into what they do best," Mayor Patrick Farrell said in his statement.

The Amazon announcement came just days after Steel of West Virginia announced plans to eliminate approximately 100 jobs at its Huntington facility.
