WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Forsyth County man involved in a violent kidnapping and assault case from 2024 has been sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of North Carolina.
Dan Bishop, U.S. Attorney for the district, announced Friday that 24-year-old Cortez Desean Ireland was sentenced to a total of 189 months after pleading guilty to felon in possession of a firearm. He pleaded guilty earlier this year on May 6.
Of that sentence, 165 months are for the firearm charge, and an additional 24 months were added because Ireland was already on federal post-release supervision for a previous firearm conviction. Those terms will run consecutively.
