A Detroit man is charged in the death of his girlfriend's 3-year-old daughter, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy's Office announced in a news release on Friday, Nov. 14.

Lovenia Spivey, 21, is accused of fatally assaulting the girl almost exactly one year ago, on Nov. 15, 2024, at a home in the 14000 block of Riverview Street. She was transported to a hospital, but died three days later, according to the news release. The cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

Spivey is charged with felony murder and first-degree child abuse. The name of an attorney for Spivey was not immediately available in online court records. More: How to use the Michigan Freedom of Information Act
