BOTETOURT/CRAIG COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - Crews are still working to tame the Lignite and Bald Mountain wildfires that have charred portions of Botetourt and Craig counties, according to the United States Forest Service .
The Bald Mountain Fire:
4,374 acres burned
71% contained
Lignite Wildfire:
180 acres burned
95% contained
A 126 person team from from the USDA Forest Service, Department of Interior, and local fire and emergency services from both Craig and Botetourt counties, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
Crews patrolled the perimeter of the burn area and “gridded the area with heat signatures.” All the containment lines were secured at the end of the shift on Wednesday, November 12, and held securely as well the following day, according to officials. Firefighters will con
