Monroe County's sheriff featured three men in a Veteran's Day Facebook post that recognized them for their military service.
One was jail commander Kyle Gibbons. The two others are veterans incarcerated at the county jail.
The public honoring of local veterans behind bars was a first.
"I would like to take this opportunity to recognize and honor the men and women who have served our nation in the United States Armed Forces − including those currently housed in the Monroe County Correctional Center," the sheriff wrote.
