FARGO — A season of emotions ended at the top of the mountain for the New Rockford-Sheyenne-Maddock football team Friday.
Just weeks after teammate Tucker Faul died following an automobile accident, the Rockets defeated LaMoure-Litchville/Marion for the second year in a row, this time 38-22, to repeat as North Dakota 9-man state champions at Dakota Bowl XXXIII.
“Tucker was awesome, he was such a great kid,” said NRSM junior receiver/cornerback Thomas Allmaras. “He was with us this whole journey and I know he was cheering us on up there.”
Faul was a senior lineman for the Rockets who died on Oct. 20 from injuries sustained in a Benson County crash. He was 17 years old.
