In the harsh stretch of the Kameng Himalayas at nearly 16,000 feet, where bare cliffs, sudden weather changes and extreme altitude often cut off supply routes, the Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps has introduced a new high-altitude logistics system that is already reshaping operations.

Forward posts in the sector frequently remain cut off under snow, and traditional transport methods struggle against the terrain. Meeting this long-standing operational need, the Corps has conceptualised and deployed an indigenous high-altitude mono rail system that is now fully functional and validated in live conditions.

The system can ferry more than 300 kg of load in a single run and is emerging as a reliable link for remote locations that lack any other mode of communication or supply in the Kameng Himala
