Fallen trees are blocking a number of North Staffordshire roads tonight. They have been blown over by the might of Storm Claudia which has brought 52mph winds.

It comes as two Met Office weather warnings - for wind and rain - remain in place for the rest of today.

A fallen tree has tonight closed Queen Mary's Drive, in Barlaston. Fallen trees are also blocking part of the A34 Stone Road and Heighley Castle Way, in Madeley.

Staffordshire County Council had received 55 reports of fallen trees by 2pm this afternoon.

A council spokesman said: "Our highways crews are working extremely hard."

Inrix states: "Heighley Castle Way is partially blocked in both directions due to a fallen tree at Hidden Hills. Traffic is coping well."
