A Maryland man accused of shooting two people before slipping away into the night is still wanted in Fairfax County, police said.
Detectives said Javon Antonio Reid, 32, was identified as the shooter in a May 7, 2023 killing on South George Mason Drive in Falls Church involving 24-year-old Maurice Anderson.
Officers responded to the 3800 block at 2:19 a.m. for a report of two men shot in the upper body, police said.
Anderson, a DC native, died at the hospital a short time later, police said. The second man was also taken to a hospital, where he “received treatment and remains hospitalized,” according to the department.
Reid ran before officers arrived, police said. He has been at large since.
Detectives said they used “surveillance footage and interviews” to identify him as the gunman. Police said he is charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Fugitive Track and Apprehension Unit detectives “are actively seeking Reid’s whereabouts,” police said on Friday, Nov. 14.
Fairfax County Police said Friday they “continue to seek the community’s help in locating Javon Reid,” who remains wanted for the May 7 murder.
Police released a wanted poster describing Reid as being 6-feet tall and weighing 220 pounds.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
