BAY CITY, MI — Federal prosecutors have charged a West Virginia-based company with a felony for allegedly engaging in haphazard removal of asbestos from a demolished Saginaw plant.
Acting Assistant U.S. Attorney General Adam Gustafson on Monday, Nov. 10, filed his complaint against Applied Partners LLC, charging the entity with violation of asbestos work practice standards. The charge is punishable by up to five years’ imprisonment and fines.
Applied Partners engaged in the misconduct while demolishing a former TRW Automotive plant at 2328 E. Genesee Ave. between Sept. 17, 2019, and Oct. 24, 2019, prosecutors allege. Applied Partners, a company that capitalizes and monetizes assets from industrial structures that have reached the end of their usefulness, bought the defunct site in July 2
