A business owner has been left devastated by a shocking fire at his premises in Rochdale .

Christopher Jackson says his business, Mellor Street Garage, on Mellor Street close to the town centre, has been going since the 1980s, with his father at the helm before him.

But the business suffered a shocking blow in the early hours of this morning (November 14) when a fire ripped through its roof.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to the scene at around 3:15am, with three fire engines attending to tackle the blaze.

A long stretch of Mellor Street remained cordoned off today as officers continued to examine and hose down the building, which was unstable.
