NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. (KTIV) - A school district located in North Sioux City was placed on lockdown, and one suspect is now in custody.

On Friday, Nov. 14, the Dakota Valley School District was placed on lockdown.

According to the North Sioux City Police Department , officers were called after receiving reports of a person in the area, possibly armed with a knife.

Authorities say officers quickly took control of the area and a suspect was found and taken into custody. Since then, the lockdown has been lifted.

“At this time, there is no threat to the general public. We appreciate the cooperation of the school staff, students, and community during this incident,” said the North Sioux City Police Department.
