A new "extremely toxic and unpredictable mixture" of opioids has recently emerged from a crack cocaine sample in Hay River, N.W.T.
In a public health advisory Friday, the territory's chief public health officer (CPHO) said the sample came back positive for carfentanil, remifentanil, and cocaine – the first time this combination has been detected in cocaine in the territory.
Last month, CPHO Dr. Kami Kandola. warned residents about carfentanil mixed with powdered cocaine found in drugs seized in the community.
