A disgruntled patron is accused of slashing a 22-year-old man in the neck with a piece of broken glass during a late-night fight outside a Troy bar.
The alleged attack happened around 11 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, near Bootleggers on Broadway at 200 Broadway, according to Troy Police.
Officers responded to reports of a disturbance outside the bar and found the victim with a neck wound. The man’s injuries were not life-threatening, and he is expected to be discharged from the hospital following treatment, police said.
An investigation determined that the incident began when a 55-year-old patron was told to leave the bar. The man left but came back moments later, police said.
An altercation broke out near the entrance and spilled into the street, where the suspect allegedly used a broken piece of glass to cut the victim on his neck, police said.
Troy Fire Department personnel treated the injured man at the scene before taking him to a local hospital.
The suspect, identified as Timothy Walton Jr., of Troy, attempted to flee but was stopped by bystanders and detained by responding officers minutes after the attack, police said.
Walton was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Troy City Court and remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail.
