A Trainer man was sentenced for the second time Thursday in the September 2018 shooting death of his mother’s boyfriend, Keith “Nate” Jackson.

Nasir “Buddy” Saleem Jr., 26, of the 3500 block of West 13th St., was sentenced to 26½ to 53 years in a state prison by Common Pleas Court Judge G. Michael Green.

The sentence was very close to Green’s original sentence of 27 to 54 years, which was imposed in January 2022 after Saleem was first found guilty of third-degree murder for Jackson’s death.

The Pennsylvania Superior Court vacated that conviction in 2023 on appeal, finding Green gave a jury instruction that the defense had requested he not provide, and remanded the case for a new trial.
