COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The FBI has increased its reward to $20,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of two suspects in the 2021 murder of a Columbus gas station owner.

Amit Patel, 45, was shot and killed on Dec. 6, 2021, while making a business deposit at Synovus Bank on Buena Vista Road. The FBI Atlanta office announced the reward increase from the previous $15,000.

Two suspects pulled into the bank parking lot in a stolen Toyota Tacoma with missing license plates as Patel approached the front door, according to authorities. One suspect got out of the vehicle and shot Patel, then took his money before both suspects fled in the stolen truck.
