The Toronto Maple Leafs have removed a contract from their books.
David Kampf cleared waivers and his contract can now be terminated, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Friday.
Kampf was previously waived before the season and sent to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, where he played four games before stepping away from the team to ponder his future.
In turn, Toronto suspended him without pay on Nov. 2. The Maple Leafs were not incurring his $1.25-million buried cap charge while he was in the minors.
Kampf had another season remaining on the four-year, $9.6-million deal general manager Brad Treliving signed him to in 2023.
The 30-year-old had five goals and 13 assists in 58 games for Toronto last season, all of which were the lowest totals he had recorded in his four-year tenure with the
