LOGANVILLE, Ga. — A woman was critically hurt after being shot in the head in the parking lot of a CVS in Loganville on Friday, according to police. Police said a person of interest is in custody but has not been charged yet.

11Alive SkyTracker flew over the scene where authorities were spotted at the store located in the 4300 block of Atlanta Highway.

Loganville Police Chief Dick Lowry said officers were called to the store around 1:55 p.m. The woman was taken to the hospital by helicopter.

As the investigation unfolded, City of Loganville officials shared an urgent message on social media telling people to avoid the area if possible due to a "serious incident."
