KALAMAZOO, MI — Western Michigan University announced a leadership change in the area of diversity and inclusion.

Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion, Candy McCorkle-Boughton, will step away from WMU and the role, President Russ Kavalhuna said in a Nov. 14 statement sent to the university.

The statement did not say why McCorkle-Boughton is stepping down.

Danyelle Gregory will serve as interim vice president for diversity and inclusion and as a member of the president’s cabinet.

Since joining WMU as associate vice president in 2023, Gregory has focused on building systems that promote retention, graduation and success for all students, Kavalhuna said.

WMU will soon launch a national search for its next vice president, Kavalhuna said.
